Hazel was born April 28, 1939 in Rockingham County to the late James Robert Jones and Thelma Martin Jones. She graduated from Bethany High School Class of 1957. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at age 14 at Antioch Baptist Church in Reidsville and married the love of her life, RB, on March 23, 1963 at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Earl Harrelson officiating. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together. She was a member of New Heights Baptist Church for 39 years where she sang in the choir, was an active member of the Ladies Sunday School Class, and Ladies Circle. Hazel worked many jobs including: Sears Distribution Center in Greensboro, her favorite job of all at The Gunn’s greenhouse in Wentworth, then to Macfield and retired from Unifi in Reidsville. She loved being outside working with her flowers and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking Sunday lunch for all the family to be together around the table. Hazel was known for her homemade pickles, chicken casserole, pinto beans, turnip greens, cornbread, macaroni salad, stewed potatoes, and egg salad sandwiches. She loved to collect bells and shop at Belk and Lenox. She loved to vacation with her family and especially loved going to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood for good gospel singing. First and foremost, she loved the Lord and spending time with her family and friends whom she loved dearly. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others as Nannie. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, RB Hundley, brother, James Penn Jones, and sister, Wanda Jones.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Young and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Ben Minter and wife, Hope; Brian Minter and wife, Hannah; Tyler Minter and wife, Ashley, and Chace Young; great grandchildren, Kira, Thea, Linda, Layne, Maverick, Harmony, Kollins, Savannah, Haidyn, Samuel, and Riley; sisters, Barbara Hundley, Nancy Butler, Mary Hudson, Linda Lamberth (Eddie), and Patsy Roberts as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her special friends, Pam and Larry Gibson.
