Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Lawson, 70, of Eden NC died on December 29 at Ancora Compassionate Care in Reidsville. A Memorial Service followed by a Gathering and Celebration will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, beginning at 1:30pm at Morehead-Fair House, 420 Boone Rd, Eden, NC.

Jerry, as he was known to his friends was born in Fort Bragg (Fort Liberty) where his father was serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel Jackson Lawson Jr and Peggy Lawson Bowman of Eden. He is survived by his brother, Michael Jackson Lawson and wife, Barbara of Semora, NC; nieces, Amy Lawson Howard of Chapel Hill, NC, Ashlee Stevens Lawson of Raleigh, NC; and nephew, Michael Jackson Lawson, Jr., of Raleigh, NC; and two great-nephews and cousins.

Jerry had been in declining health over the last several years from the effects of throat cancer. He fought a long tough battle for years. Jerry grew up in Reidsville and graduated from Reidsville High School. He was a member of the Varsity Reidsville Golden Lions Football team. The team changed to the Rams in 1969, and the team went on to win back-to-back State Championships in 1969 and 1970. Jerry was one of the captains in 1970. Jerry loved those years and made lasting friendships with many of the guys on his team that have been by his side on his journey. After graduation, Jerry attended Campbell College and graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. During his college years, he loved summers at Myrtle Beach, lifeguarding. He loved the sand, flip flops, working out at the gym and a good tan. He finally gave up the beach and moved to Charlotte where he began a career in Real Estate. His gift of working with people and his friendly personality made him successful. Jerry enjoyed his Real Estate years After life in Charlotte. Jerry moved from Charlotte to be near his mother in Eden.
