George William Neal, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
George was born in Rockingham County to the late Robert and Anne Neal. He retired from MacField later known as Unifi, after 30 years of service. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He passed his love of fishing on to his son. He really enjoyed jeep racing and NASCAR. Dale Earnhardt Sr. was his favorite driver. Pops was a MOPAR man and always loved big Hemi motors. He could often be found in the recliner with his beloved cat Squirrel Girl. Most of all George loved his cats and his family, we aren’t sure which he loved more.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Neal, sister-in-law, Terry Neal and his granddaughter, Angel Neal.
“Pops” is survived by his son, Kenneth “Kenny” Neal (Brittany “Big Sweetie” Harrison); granddaughter, Olivia “little sweetie” Neal; siblings, Becky LePrade, Walter Neal, Robert Neal III (Donna); darling ex-wife (As he referred to her), Mary Ann; nieces and nephews, Andrea, Stephanie, Ally, Brooke, Robert Allen, Emma, Eli, Cameron, Allison,Bryan (Leela), and Bryson as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Roger Johnson, Joey and Becky Martin and Jerry Hobbs, Teresa Plate, Nancy Manness as well as the staff at Ancora Compassionate Care.
