George Edward Evans

Ruffin, NC – George Edward Evans, 72, of 601 Berry Hill Bridge Road, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Avante Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 12, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Collins officiating. The interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mr. Evans was born in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Dewey and Mary “Molly” Elizabeth Evans. He attended Shepherd Baptist Church. He was an avid sportsman, especially hunting and fishing. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys Adkins, Edna Trammell and Patsy Booth; and his brothers, Nathan Evans and Kenneth Evans. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Emma Tate Evans of the home; sons, Randy Edward Evans and wife, Lisa of Asheboro, NC, Bruce Allen Evans of the home, Troy Lee Evans and wife, Joyce of Pelham, NC, Brian Keith Evans of the home, and Randy Lee Evans and wife, Amanda of Reidsville; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Sam L. Evans and wife, Robette of Pelham, NC, Hubert Evans, and wife, Irene of Pelham, and Carl Evans and wife, Barbara of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Vera Land and Nancy Layne and husband, James Henry all of Pelham, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 11, 2008, from 7-9 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
