Florine Strader Lillard, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday morning, March 23, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church (FABC) with Pastor Jerel Olson officiating, and the family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 PM. The burial will follow at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Florine was born in Guilford County to the late Weldon and Muriel Strader as the youngest of five children. She is preceded in death by her four siblings, Harry, Wallace, Mary, and Frances.
She was a loving wife to her late husband of 67 years, Allen Lillard; mother to Vickie Lillard Logan (John) and David Allen Lillard, Jr. (Brenda); and beloved Mamaw to grandchildren, Mistie Olson (Jerel), David Lillard (Nikki), and Tiffany Miller (Gary), and great-grandchildren, Jered (Alyssa), Kaeden (Angela), Xane, Miles, and Remy, all of whom were her greatest joy. She also leaves behind a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
Florine worked at the Sears Surplus Store for 10 years and joined FABC after relocating to Greensboro. Florine served generously with her church, including providing meals for shut-ins and working in the hospital cooler ministry. She will no doubt be remembered for her infectious excitement and laughter, numerous cherry yum-yums for family birthdays, nearly world-famous homemade cookies, and sneaking under the Christmas tree for presents with her grandchildren.
Her family extends deep gratitude to her church family, Sunday School class, and other dear friends for their visits, prayers, and thoughtful cards. Special thanks is also given to the staff at Harmony, the hospice team at AuthoraCare, and her private CNAs for their loving attention.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendly Avenue Baptist Church at 4800 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27410.
