Ethel Irene Pettigrew

Ethel Irene, 70, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2026, at her home in Madison.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Greenview Cemetery with Pastor Duane King officiating.

She found joy in the simple things in life, especially spending time with her family and caring for those she loved. She enjoyed coloring books, fishing, and flowers. Her pets held a special place in her heart, and she loved the companionship and comfort they brought her. Above all, her family was her greatest treasure, and the memories made together will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Ethel was preceded in death by her father, William Daves; sister, Vicky Daves; grandmother, Annie Stewart; grandfather, Spurgeon Stewart; uncles, Bobby, Everette and Tommy Stewart; nephews, Danny Robertson and Frank Cunningham.

She is survived by her companion, Larry Higgins of Madison, NC; son, Steve Lester and wife Kathy of Reidsville; daughter, Kim Lester; grandson, Nathan Lester and wife Haley; brothers, Bill and wife Sandra, Michael and wife Tammy; sisters, Judy and Evelyn; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, several aunts, uncles and other extended family.
