Eric Clayton McCollum, age 44, passed away recently at the family farm in Wrightsville, GA. Eric leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a love for the outdoors and a genuine massive heart.
Born on September 21, 1981, Eric was a man who lived life on his own terms, but his love for his family and nature remained a constant thread throughout his journey.
Eric was happiest when he was out in nature. He loved hunting, fishing, and finding peace and joy in the quiet of the woods and by the water. Some of his finest times were spent living on the family farm in Georgia. A place where he truly enjoyed the freedom and simple pleasures of a country life.
He was the definition of a man who would give you the shirt off his back, always willing to share whatever he had with someone in need without a second thought. Though he never married or had children, his heart was deeply rooted in the love he held for his family.
Nothing brought out Eric’s pure joy and love more than his nephews and nieces. He loved them fiercely and they grew up knowing without a doubt how much their uncle adored them. His other great love was for his faithful dog Yeti, who was his loyal sidekick and partner on many outdoor adventures.
Eric is now at peace, resting free from the weight of this world. He is proceeded in death by his father John Thomas McCollum, mother Patricia Smith McCollum, and brothers Matthew and Mark McCollum. He is survived by his sisters Jennifer Sands (Daryl), Tonya McCollum, and brother Alex McCollum (Cydney).
Nieces and Nephews: Rachel Ore (Chase), Gage McCollum, Kenan Bolden, Bella McCollum, Paisley McCollum, Layton McCollum, and Maddox McCollum.
Family will visit with guest on September 20th at 1 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home followed by a graveside service officiated by Pastor David Surrett. Guests will also be received at his sister’s home of 2071 Ashley Loop Rd. Reidsville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you take a moment to share and spend time with family and friends a moment in nature to enjoy the peace and joy of God’s greatest creation.
