Elsie Mabe

Reidsville:     Elsie Mabe Cox, 96, of 1310 Hawthorne Avenue,  passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday,   February 7, 2008 at First   Presbyterian Church with Rev. Douglas S. McLeroy officiating.   Entombment will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Cox was born in Rockingham County to the late James Washington and Ada Benton Mabe.   She lived her entire life in Reidsville where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.   She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great–grandmother and enjoyed cooking for her family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M.; brother, Henry Mabe; sister Pearl Vaden   and great granddaughter, Amy Leonard. She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Hamlet, Shirley Medley and husband, Julius; grandchildren, Elizabeth Leonard, Lisa Rodgers and husband, Greg; Stephen Hamlet, III and wife, Keven; Tim Medley and wife, Deborah; great-grandchildren, Jon and Sam Leonard, Matt Wilkie, Adam Rodgers, Ashley Hamlet, Alex Medley and Sarah Medley; great-great grandchild, Cole Leonard; sister, Margaret Williams and husband, Jim Tom and brother-in-law, Ed Cox. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence
