Listen to Obituary

Edward “Eddy” Keith Reed passed away peacefully at his home in Gibsonville on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. In keeping with Eddy’s laid-back nature and appreciation for comfort, the family kindly requests that guests dress casually.

Born on July 24, 1952, in Virginia, Eddy was the son of the late Lucian and Doris Reed. He graduated from Page High School in 1971 and proudly served in the United States Army in a mechanized unit. Eddy went on to work as an electrician at Lorillard for 44 years, where he met the love of his life, Sue.

An avid outdoorsman, Eddy found great joy in fishing and spent every opportunity surrounded by nature. He was also a devoted sports fan, especially Duke Basketball. Known as a true Jack-of-all-trades, Eddy had a remarkable talent for building, fixing, and creating with his hands. His vast knowledge of nature allowed him to identify nearly any plant, tree, or animal. His love for animals was evident, particularly in the bond he shared with his horse, Rojo, and his beloved dogs, Ringo, Rudy, and Lucy.

Above all, Eddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sue Reed; daughter, Tracy Reed Pace and her husband, Mick; grandchildren, Alex Courtney and her husband, Tyler, and Jacob Pace; great-grandchildren, Layla Pace and Anderson Ellington; brother, Roger Reed and his wife, Cathy; sister-in-law, Roslyn Voliva; nephews, Casey Reed, Blaze Voliva, Chaz Voliva, and Skylar Dimmitt; niece, Marly Voliva; and dear friend, Vicki Hampton.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all of Eddy’s friends for their love, prayers, and support throughout his illness and battle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eddy’s honor to his wildlife streaming channel, Woodlands Critter Quest, at 1183 University Dr. STE 105 #2007, Burlington, NC 27215.
