Edward Donald "Don" Barrett

WEATHER UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, the funeral service will be postponed until tomorrow, Tuesday, January 4th, visitation from 12:00 - 1:00 and the service immediately following in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel.

Edward Donald “Don” Barrett, 84, of Reidsville, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Rockingham County Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2022 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Don, affectionally known as "Goat" was born in Rockingham County to the late Maryland and Kate Hill Barrett. He was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Unifi. He enjoyed spending each summer with his family and friends at Humphrey’s Ridge Campground, where he and his wife were affectionately known as Grandpa and Grandma. He loved sports, especially Wake Forest Basketball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Woodrow, Dean, Lloyd, Clyde and Leroy Barrett; sisters, Irene Barrett, Margaret Gann and Lois Southern.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Tickle Barrett; children, Wanda Barrett-Hayes and husband, Wayne, Eddie Barrett and wife, Teresa; grandchildren, Kenneth Wayne Hayes, II, Michael Gabriel Barrett- Hayes, John Edward “Bubba” Barrett, II, Tracy Joe Shelton, Michael Lee Barrett, Katherine Milan and Ollie Milan; great grandchildren, Scarlett Grace Barrett, Isaac James Barrett, Penelope Kate Barrett, Kirby Ray Milan, Russell Milan, Raylen Milan and Bently Barrett; sister, Juanita Manuel; numerous nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O.
