North Wilkesboro – Edna Hardy Hudson, 87, of Wilkes Senior Village, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2008. She spent most of her life in Ruffin, Rockingham County until moving with her daughter, Geraldine in 2002. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, at 2:00 PM. at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mack McDowell officiating. Interment will follow in Ruffin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Edward Hudson, Vic Stephenson, Bob Wharton, James Worsham III, Brian Stephenson, William Irvin Reagan, Bill Robertson and Roger Shaffer. Mrs. Hudson was born in Cascade Virginia to the late Andrew and Ola Chumley Hardy and was a retiree of The American Tobacco Company with 39 years of service. She was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, taught Sunday School, member of circle # 4 Presbyterian Women, and awarded honorary lifetime membership in Presbyterian Women. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Samuel “J Sam” Hudson; brothers, Dillard, Seward and Wayne Hardy; sisters, Dora Gammon and Clem Toler. Survivors include her daughter, Geraldine Smith and husband, Tom of North Wilkesboro; granddaughters, Merri Lynne Conrad of Kernersville and Betsy Conrad Whittington and husband, Stan of Millers Creek; twin great granddaughters, Sarah and Salem Whittington; brother, Harvie Hardy of Eden; sisters, Ann Clyburn of Ridgeway, Va., Nell Lillard of Ruffin and Sue Barber of Wentworth; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will see friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, September 12, from 7-8:30 PM and other times will be at the home of her sister, Nell Lillard, 10261 Park Springs Road, Ruffin.
