Dr. Susan Stevens Mounce

Dr. Susan Stevens Mounce, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Visitation will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Nick Decker.

Born on September 26, 1951, in Leaksville, North Carolina (now Eden) to Gorman Stevens and Jean Light Stevens, Susan attended Trinity Wesleyan Church in Eden, North Carolina, for most of her life, and later attended, when able, Gospel Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Susan was a graduate of Elon College, earned a master’s degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and completed her doctoral studies at Capella University. She began her professional career as a school teacher and later transitioned into a calling in mental health and family counseling, where she served others with compassion, wisdom, and care.

She is survived by her cherished and devoted husband of 52 years, Barry Clifton Mounce; her son, Chris Mounce, and his wife Amanda; her daughter, Jocelyn Carter, and her husband Ronnie; her brother, Mark Stevens (Penny); her cherished grandchildren Tripp Carter, Cydney Mounce, Callen Carter, Tyler Carter, and Everleigh Mounce; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and her beloved fur baby, Ramona, all of whom brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gorman Stevens, her mother, Jean Light Stevens, and her granddaughter, Brianna Claire Carter.
