Jerry was our doctor at Battleground Urgent Care. We fell in love with him immediately. He was caring, friendly, and always available to help when we needed him. We ran into him and Cathy over the years and always saw a big smile on Jerry's face. He was a true jewel of a man and he will be missed greatly. Kelly and John Starkey

Jerry's passing evokes so many treasured memories of our friendship in our teens We rode to and from school together for five years, perfected our dance steps at the Legion Hut on Thursday nights, fretted over Latin class, SAT's, and getting our driver's license. We actually thought it was appropriate to dye our hair jet black to perform in a Hawaiian themed event! Jerry was so bright and talented, fun to be with, had such enthusiasm for friends and the future. So many possibilities lay ahead for all of us! I am so grateful to have reconnected with Jerry at our class reunions and catch up on our stories and share happy memories of the past. Those days long ago were such a gift that enriched our lives, and I will always remember Jerry as a dear friend who made a difference in my life and so many others. His light shines on... I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. D at one of my most lonely and frightening periods, this was Feb. 2016 when I was brought into his office at Fellowship Hall. He looked up from his chair and said, "Stop right there, and watch this! He stretched his legs out and spun around without hitting anything. And then said to me, "if you stay clean and sober, one day you too can have an office big enough to spin in your chair with your legs outstretched. Right then and there I made a friend for life and he always picked the phone up when I called. Love you Dr. D!

Dear Cathy I was shocked to learn of Jerrys passing when I stopped by the Carriage House on Wednesday. The staff let me know because they knew you and I were friends from long ago days at Carolina Antique Mall. I remember you telling me he was ill last time I saw you in Raleigh and had thought I have not seen you stop by my shop in a while but attributed it to the pandemic. Robert and I are thinking of you in this difficult time and hope peace comes soon to you and your family. Love, Lynne & Robert Knowles Raleigh
