Douglas Reid “Punk” Stephens, 79, of Ruffin, NC, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born on January 19, 1947, in Ruffin, he remained a lifelong resident of the community he loved.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at 12:00 PM, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 11:00 AM, both at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville, NC. Burial will immediately follow the service at Ruffin Community Cemetery.
Douglas was a dedicated electrician who retired from Adams Electric Co. after a long and accomplished career. His work took him across the world, a journey he truly cherished. He was highly respected in his field and was even commended by the United States Air Force for his contributions to their bases worldwide—a testament to his skill, work ethic, and character.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julia Collins Stephens; his son, Robert “Tink” Stephens (Susan); grandson, Thomas Stephens; his parents, Isaac Spencer Stephens and Marshie Stanley Stephens and many of his siblings, Isaac Stephens Jr. (Mildred), John Stephens (Katherine), Frances Huskey (Wilbur), Marvin Stephens (Temple), George Stephens (Jean), Phillip Stephens (Kathy), Donald Stephens (Joyce), and Robert Stephens.
He is survived by his brothers, James Stephens (Shelby) and Wayne Stephens (Orenda); and sisters-in-law Jean Stephens, Orenda Stephens, Kathy Stephens, and Joyce Stephens, respectively.
Douglas leaves behind a loving family, including his sons: Mark Stephens (Susan) and Timothy Stephens (fiancé Tammy); grandchildren, Haily Stephens, Angela "Angie" Stephens, Amanda "Mandy" Stephens Pulliam (Jeffrey), Julie Ann Stephens (Joseph), Reid Stephens, William Stephens (Breanna), and Marshie Stephens. He was a proud great-grandfather to 16 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Known for his gift of conversation, Douglas could talk to anyone and made friends wherever he went. Through his travels and work, he built lasting friendships across the globe. He was a man of generosity and kindness, always willing to give the shirt off his back to help a friend in need.
Above all, he loved his family deeply. He instilled strong family values in his children and grandchildren, who respected him immensely and sought his wisdom and guidance throughout their lives. He was a strong, admirable presence—a man whose strength, character, and integrity earned the respect of all who knew him.
