Donald Ray Smith

Reidsville: On November 25, 2018 Donald Ray Smith, loving husband and father of two, passed peacefully away in his sleep at the age of 68. Donny was born to the late, James and Lizzie Smith of Reidsville, NC in 1950. He graduated from Ruffin High School. He was a millwright by trade, but wore many hats also working as a landscaper and later retiring from Wilson Pest Control. Donny loved family gatherings, where his family and friends would get together at Eugene's pig pickins. They would make music, sing and enjoy quality time together. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Gladys; his brother, Alton and his sister, Elaine. Surviving are his wife Joy Smith of the home; his daughter, Haley Bailey and husband, Will; his son, Neil Smith and wife, Brittany; his loving niece who cared for him, Kelly Newton; his 3 grand children, Natalie Smith, Benjamin Smith and Lainey Newton; his two sisters, Arlene Terry and husband, Eugene and Joyce Poindexter and husband, Hal; his brother, Arnold Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers spend a day with your friends or family and enjoy life.
