Donald Hammond

Donald Hammond, 77, of 3065 Old US Hwy 29 Lot #3, went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Ancora Compassionate Care Gibson House.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Lively Stones Baptist Church, (2347 Chandler Mill Road, Pelham) with Pastor Michael Kent officiating.

He was born and raised in Fayetteville, NC and served as a veteran in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He loved God, his country, golf, and Stevie Ray Vaughn! Don was a published poet and was gifted with words about life and his faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharron Hammond; stepchildren, Lisa Williams and husband, Mark, Kristina Warden, Thomas Bronish, and Laura Martin and Brian Gilbert; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Glenda Watts, and Betty Gordon; brother, Ronnie Hammond; and a large extended family.
