Listen to Obituary

Debra “Debby” Lee Valentine, 71, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Debby was born in the Bronx, New York, to the late Robert and Loretta Valentine. She was raised in Queens and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. She treasured her summers at Breezy Point, where her family kept a summer home and where many fond memories were made. In her younger years, Debby had a passion for cars—especially sports cars—and enjoyed showing dogs.

Debby built a successful career in commercial insurance, working in the Bronx, Florida, and eventually settling in Reidsville, North Carolina, in 2005. A beloved member of her community, Debby dedicated more than 20 years to Rakestraw Insurance Company, now Bearing Insurance, where she was known for her dedication, experience and professionalism.

In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music, watching soap operas, game shows, and cooking channels. Debby was an outstanding cook, with a passion for Italian cousine, skills she inherited from her own mother and later passed on to her son, Tory. Above all, Debby's most treasured role was that of mother and the relationship she had with her only child, Tory, was immensely strong. Tory said of his late mother: “In the days prior to her passing, I visited the hospital chapel and prayed to God to thank him for blessing me to be born to the most beautiful, caring and wonderful mother in the world - a blessing which I will forever be grateful for. Now, I am even more blessed to have the most amazing guardian angel in Heaven.” Debby undoubtedly cherished every moment spent with her beloved family, and her family loved her deeply.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Valentine; sister, Carolee Favata and brother-in-law, Leonard Favata.

She is survived by her son, Tory Valentine; brother, Robert “Bobby” Valentine and wife, Pat, niece, Loree Favata and husband, Ray Abell; nephew, Leonard Favata and wife, Gina.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Monticello Club House on Sunday, March 8, 2026  at 1:00 p.m.
