Gary was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Isley Hall; father Clyde Hall; mother, Ruth Howell; and sister,Kay Ruth Hall.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sandra Hall, daughter Amy Barnes (Chris), son Brian Hall (Brittany); grandchildren, Jordan Barnes (Kelsey); Cody Barnes (Taylor); Sullivan Hall; and Elijah Hall; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Carruthers, Addison Barnes, McKinley Barnes, and Kayce Barnes; brother, Charles Hall (Faye); special brother in love, Tony Isley (Caroleda); and step-children Michael Yeatts (Betsy), and Wendy Wilson.

In 1968, Gary married his first love, Wilma, and was drafted into the United States Army shortly after. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he settled in Reidsville with Wilma, and together they raised two children. Gary worked as a local delivery driver for beverage companies such as Pepsi and Mark IV, later becoming a long-haul truck driver before retiring. Gary and Wilma shared almost 40 years of marriage before her passing. Their family traditions included annual summer trips to the beach, where they spent countless days fishing from the shore and piers—a passion Gary passed down to his children and grandchildren. His love of fishing continued through the years, particularly during weekends on the lake with his son, Brian, and visits to the coast to enjoy time with family.

Gary found love again and married Sandra in 2014. They moved to Eden and were blessed with 11 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling, especially to Amish Country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and attending productions at the Sight & Sound Theater. Sandra’s family embraced Gary as one of their own, and he held a special place in the hearts of her children listed above, her grandchildren—Ariell, Tylan, Noah, Kuper and True—and great grandchildren—Tanner and Valley, who all loved him deeply. Sandra generously cared for Gary through sickness and health. They shared a wonderful life together.

A man of unwavering faith, Gary attended Covington Memorial Wesleyan Church for years and, more recently, Floyd Baptist Church. His devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, remained steadfast until the day he was called home. Gary will be remembered for his kind spirit, quiet strength, jovial personality, and deep love for his family and faith.

Condolences may be made in person at the home shared by Gary and Sandra, or online at https://www.wilkersonfuneral.com. The family wants to thank Annie Penn Hospital and Moses Cone Hospital for taking such great care of Gary in his final days.
