Claude Lipford

Claude Daniel Lipford, 84, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2020 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Happy Home Church Cemetery with Rev. Bruce McBride Officiating. Claude was born to the late James Lee Lipford and Mamie Gatewood Lipford in Rockingham County. He worked as a plumber and electrician in the area for over 40 years. He loved to split wood, old wood stoves and spending time in the old school building on his property. Many have shared in the bounty from his garden and heard his stories while visiting the old school. Most of all he loved his family; he will be greatly missed. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Hines Lipford and granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Walker. He is survived by his sons, Terry Allen Lipford (Robyn Catlett), Kelly Lynn Lipford (Tara Lipford); daughter, Kimberly Lipford Walker (Gary Allen); grandchildren, Matthew Swartzlander (Cicely Swartzlander), Michael Lipford (Magen Cox), Maxwell Lipford and Jordan Lipford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Happy Home Church at 6941 Hwy 700, Ruffin, NC 27326.

Hello Dear Family, Claude was always a special classmate. He had a good personality and was liked by all as I remember. When we were in 4th grade at Happy Home, our teacher, Miss Edrie Cross, brought a jar of green Olives to class. She wanted each of us to experience the taste of Olives. Claude did not want to eat an Olive! After more coaching from the teacher to get him to try one, he finally took one and swallowed it whole!! Class mates thought that was so funny. I am so sorry for your great loss. "Death is a Heartache no one call heal. Love is a Memory no one can steal." Please know I am remembering each of you with my Love, Prayers, and deepest Sympathy. We're so sorry to learn of Claude's passing. I remember Claude visiting me at Morehead Nursing Center after I was in an auto accident. His mother was a patient there at the same time. I used to visit her from time to time and Claude would stop by my room with that big smile and it would make my day. He will be greatly missed. RIP Claude.

Uncle Claude and I shared the same birthday. My mom would always remind me of this. My mom was his sister. She is in heaven and will be reunited with her brother now. Love and hugs to Terry, Kelly and Kim....
