Mr. Charles Keith Williams of 183 Midway Road, Reidsville NC passed peacefully on Thursday, the twenty-third of April and joined his Father in heaven. Keith was most proud of being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be deeply missed.
His family will welcome friends at Midway United Methodist Church at 10970 US 158 in Reidsville on Saturday, the second of May from 1:00 - 1:45 PM.
The service celebrating his life will follow at 2:00 PM.
He was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia on July 29, 1954 to Henry Murphy Williams and Carolyn Evans Williams. During his father’s career in the United States Navy, the family moved often with each changing duty station, enabling Keith to experience life in different areas of the country and abroad.
Before the age of twenty, Keith’s entrepreneurial spirit showed itself in the ownership of a downtown Greensboro establishment called Keith’s Pub, which was managed by his older brother, Robert Daniel “Dan” Williams. His next business venture ensued before age twenty-five, with the ownership of a Part-Time® temporary help agency focused on the construction industry specialties of plumbing, pipe fitting, and heating and air.
One of Keith’s many passions throughout his life was cooking and he applied his culinary gifts working in the food and beverage industry for fifteen years.
Desiring a work/life balance that would allow more time for his family, he applied his skills to manufacturing engraved stationery products with his sister and brother-in-law at Southern Engraving Company. Keith spent a good deal of his leisure time getting outdoors and enjoying God’s creation with family, friends, and his church family. Whether it was hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, or camping and enjoying the wood-smoke of a campfire…life just didn’t get any better.
Avid reader and tinkerer extraordinaire, Keith taught himself how to operate, program, and repair desktop computers which blossomed into another business called CompuWorks. Among his many hobbies were flower and vegetable gardening, canning, cheese-making, winemaking, beekeeping, photography, and coin collecting.
Keith’s heart for service, was reflected in his enthusiasm for volunteering at Midway United Methodist Church. Among his contributions were:
Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Boy Scout Troop Leader and Youth Leader.
He also served his community as Vice President and President of the Monroeton Elementary School PTA.
He is predeceased by his father Henry Murphy Williams, Sr., his brothers Robert Daniel Williams and Henry Murphy Williams, Jr.
He is survived by his mother Carolyn Evans Davis, sister Carole Williams Clapp (Jordan), brothers William Joe Walls (Tara) and Christopher Luke Williams (Lisa), loving wife, Susan Joy Cowan Williams; children, Joy Renee Akins, Charles Devlin Williams (Andrea), Christina Williams “Weeze” Lindstam (Brian); grandchildren, Dixie Lee Spurlock, Celeste Wilson Smith (Austin), Nathaniel Scott Williams, Chris Sean Hinson, Kirsten Alexis Williams, Elora Leigh Lindstam and great-grandsons Asta and Ares Alonso.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation in his memory to the Midway United Methodist Church Building Fund at 10970 US 158, Reidsville, NC 27320.
