Charles Penn Edwards, 68, passed away on Thursday February 29, 2024, at his sister’s home in Ruffin.

The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 5:00-6:00PM. During the visitation, there will be a gathering of friends and family to share stories about Charles from 6:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.

Charles was born December 12, 1955, to the late Edgar and Rachel Edwards in Rockingham County. He worked at Adams Electric for almost 30 years before he retired in 2015. He was a Dale Earnhart Fan and Washington Redskins Fan who could be found cooking and watching NFL football on Sunday’s. Charles enjoyed trying new recipes, fishing, being outside and especially the beach. He also enjoyed hanging out with “the guys” in the shop and was always willing to try new things. Charles was known for his strong will, as a hard worker, and being a straight-shooter. He also loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Most of all, Charles was a proud and loving “Pop” and “Poppy” to his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Edwards, siblings Walter Edwards, Darrell Edwards, Garnet Edwards, and Stella Pratt.

Charles is survived by his children, Stuart Edwards and Mandy, Chuck Edwards, and Christina Edwards; step-daughter, Brandy Fleming and Scott; grandchildren, Robert Jones III, Tyson Edwards, Kayla Edwards, Hunter Edwards, Brooke Fleming, Joshua Rickman and Andrew Edwards; sisters, Sue Strader and Dennis, Kay Delancey, Lynn Wilson in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
