Listen to Obituary

Carolyn Pegram, 76, gained her angel wings on July 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unconditional love.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Lowes United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Thore and Rev. Tim Drum officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 6-8PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the family home.

Carolyn dedicated her life to caring for others through her lifelong career in nursing. She began her nursing career at RCC attaining her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1995. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need touched countless lives. Nursing was more than a profession to Carolyn – it was her calling, and she served with grace, empathy, and selflessness throughout her career. She was a faithful member of Lowes United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader and choir member. She loved sharing her faith in Jesus Christ.

While she devoted herself to caring for others, nothing brought Carolyn greater joy than her family. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, cherished aunt, and faithful friend. Her greatest treasures were her two granddaughters, Hannah Scott (Aaron) and Madison French (Jace), who were truly the apples of her eyes. She delighted in their accomplishments, treasured every moment spent with them, and loved them beyond measure.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Roger Dean Pegram; father, Gaylard Chilton; brother-in-law, Bobby Pegram and best friend, Katherine Howerton.

Carolyn is lovingly survived by her daughter, Crystal French, and son-in-law, Justin French; her beloved granddaughters, Hannah Scott (Aaron) and Madison French (Jace); her special aunt, Nell Jean Simmons; and a treasured extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Carolyn’s love, kindness and compassionate spirit will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of caring for others and putting family first will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held our hearts.
