Carol Francis Hopkins

Carol Francis Hopkins, 64, of Ruffin took an unexpected heavenly flight on July 12, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Surrett officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Global Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Carol was born in Rockingham County to the late David Daniel Pruitt & Shirley Gray Kennon Pruitt.

She was tenderhearted and always willing to help others. She loved her family deeply and often talked about how she longed for the day she’d be reunited with her mom and dad. She enjoyed being outdoors and took pride in working in her yard. Her faith was a strong and steady part of who she was.

She graduated from Rockingham County High School in 1979 and began working at Burlington Industries. In 1989, she graduated from Leon’s Beauty School and spent the next 18 years doing hair alongside her sister Wanda. She also worked with her family at Oregon Hill Mini Mart, a store her mother had founded, for another 18 years. In the later part of her life, she managed rental property that she owned.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her grandparents, Russell and Clara Kennon, and Clarence and Helen Pruitt; her uncles, Russel “Pee Wee” Kennon and Wesley Pruitt; aunt, Mary Pruitt Woods; and her niece, Ashley Kennon. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, David Hopkins; her sisters, Wanda French (Mike) and Janice Pinnix (Sherwood); her nephews, Christopher French and Dillon Pinnix; her special cousin, Skilarr Pruitt; uncle, Charles Pruitt; aunt, Barbara Watkins; long-time family friend Edward Wilson and her beloved fur babies, her dog, River, and her cat, Abby
