Brenda was born in Rockingham County to the late Floyd Lester Moore and Beulah Ramsey Moore. She spent her early years on her family’s tobacco farm in the small community of Bethany. She graduated from Bethany High School in 1965. Brenda became the mother of two sons in the years 1967 & 1971. They were her whole world. In 1977 she married the love of her life Kenneth Holt. Brenda retired from Sears after 27 years of service. Later she also retired from Rockingham County Schools at Bethany Elementary School with 11 years of service.

Brenda, being the 9th child in a large family, knew at an early age that family was the most important thing in this life. A value that she has passed onto her own family. Brenda was the center of her family, a true matriarch, that lead the way through her unwavering faith in Christ. She was the most caring, compassionate, loving and precious soul you would ever meet. If you knew her you knew love. Brenda was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Her grandbabies called her Nanny Brenda; she wore that badge with the most honor. She will be missed immensely.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, James, Floyd and Bill Moore; sisters, Mary Anna Hudson, Yvonne Sands, Edna Tilley and Dean Wall.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Belton Holt; children, Dwayne Edward Moore (Tammy) and Scott Lee Moore; step son, Terry Keith Holt (Angela); grandchildren, Jessica Barley (Josh), Caroline Moore, Niki Cox (Cody), Zack Holt (Winter), Austin Holt, Chris Groves (Brandii) and Jacob Moore; 8 greatgrandchildren, brother, Douglas Moore; numerous nieces nephews and a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
