Betty was born in Rockingham County to the late Wilbert Rosick Dickerson and Stella East Dickerson. A graduate of Ruffin High School, she remained deeply rooted in the community she loved throughout her life. Betty faithfully served as a member of Happy Home Church for many years, where she was actively involved in the Willing Workers Circle, Vacation Bible School, Explorers for Christ, and countless other ministries. If the church doors were open, Betty was likely there, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed.
Betty dedicated 28 years of service to the Rockingham County School System as a school bus driver, faithfully transporting generations of children with care and compassion. Beyond her work, she treasured time spent with her husband. Together they enjoyed camping, especially their trips to Salter Path, and in later years shared many memorable travels throughout the United States and Canada.
Known for her gentle and nurturing spirit, Betty had a special love for ladybugs and birds and found great joy in caring for God's creation. She never turned away an animal in need and was often known to rehabilitate injured or abandoned wildlife. Betty will be remembered for her unwavering faith, servant's heart, kindness to others, and the quiet way she touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Gauldin; brother, Robert Hutson; step father, James Edward Mason; step mother, Sue Earles Dickerson; step sister, Natalie Dickerson.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack Lipford, Sr.; sons, Jack Lipford, II and wife Lisa, Jason Lipford and wife, Susan; grandchildren, Jessica Cagle and husband, Matt, Jay Lipford, Macey Dixon and husband, Jordan, Hannah Lipford, and Harrison Lipford and wife, Katie; great grandchildren, Cayden Pruitt, Braxton Pruitt, Annabelle Pruitt, Hattie Dixon, Maklynn Lipford, Maddie Cagle, Easton Cagle and Sophia Cagle; step brother, Dwayne Dickerson and wife, Nancy; former daughter-in-law, Marsha Lipford; as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends.
