Greensboro - Bessie Cox Burton, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from injury due to a fall.Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Westminster Gardens with Rev. Rick Lebaube.Mrs. Burton was born in Providence Rhode Island to the late Fletcher Harrison and Mattie Birtwell Cox. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin B. "Bumps" Burton, Jr. and sister, Joanne Williams.Survivors include her children, Marvin F. "Buddy" Burton, Jr., Nancy E. Burton, Charles M. Burton and wife, Susan and James R. Burton, Sr. and wife, Sherry; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Annie B. Cox; brother-in-law, Barney Williams.Memorial contributions may be made to SPCA of the Triad, 3163 Hines Chapel Road, Greensboro, North Carolina 27403 or Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, North Carolina 27405.There will be no formal visitation but the family will be at 6048 N.
