Alonzo Russell Hubbard III

Alonzo Russell Hubbard III, 68, Passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, surrounded by his family. The family will hold a private memorial service on October 4, 2026, from 2-5 PM at the family residence.

Alonzo was born in Oswego, NY, to the late Alonzo Russell Hubbard Jr. and Georgia Ann Tippett Hubbard. Those who knew Lonnie, knew him as a loving, gentle, caring, and selfless man with a sharp wit, incredible sense of humor, and a genuine desire to make the people around him smile. He was the kind of person who was always ready to lend a hand in any way he could. His laughter was unforgettable, his hugs made everything better, and his kindness left an impression on anyone blessed enough to meet him.

He found joy in so many things from reading and travelling to golf, art auctions, and curating beautiful collections of coins, cards, figurines, and other treasures. He had a lifelong love of fantasy and adventure, enjoying everything in the realm of Harry Potter, Start Trek, Disney, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. He enjoyed simple pleasures too – a good coffee, a cold beer, and a heavily salted soft pretzel.

Above all else, Lonnie love his family. He adored his wife and cherished his daughter beyond words. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel like they belonged; welcoming his daughter’s and wife’s friends and their families into his family as though they had always been a part. He also adored his dog, Evey, who was his shadow and companion and a well loved member of the family. His family extends far beyond blood, because to him, family was anyone he loved and cared for.

His greatest legacy won’t be found in the collections he curated or the places he travelled, but in the love he gave so freely. He made people feel cared for, welcomed, and loved, and he will be deeply missed by all of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sheryl Hubbard; daughter, Beka Hubbard; sister, Kim Hasty; along with a large and loving group of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Shriners Children’s Hospital at 2900 N Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607.
