Alice Collins Mason

Alice Collins Mason, 86, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2025, at Jacobs Creek Nursing Home in Madison, North Carolina.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Alice was born on October 4, 1939, in Rockingham County to the late Gilbert Lee Collins and Nannie Roberts Collins.

A longtime member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church in Reidsville, North Carolina, Alice graduated from Bethany High School and later completed a Travel and Tourism course at Rockingham Community College, where she formed many lasting friendships. She retired from Rockingham Community College after many years of service as a receptionist.

Alice loved to read and took great joy in her extensive collection of novels.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, John W. “Byrd” Mason; and five sisters, Debra Faye Collins, Brenda Kay Ware, Jean Collins Ross, Margaret Collins Pruitt, and Gladys Collins Waller.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Gilbert Mason and wife, Anita; grandchildren, Taylor Mason Davenport and husband, Barney, and Christopher Lee Mason; and three great-grandchildren, Luke, Zoey, and Emma Davenport.
