Thomas Houston Reid, Jr.

Browns Summit: Thomas Houston Reid, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2018 in Greensboro. There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 4:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Freeman officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service, from 3:00 till 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 4, 1936, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Houston Reid, Sr. and Margaret Wegman Reid. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Carol Varney Reid; his daughter, Diane Reid Coltrane (Bobby) of Browns Summit, NC and sons, Thomas Charles Reid (Susan) of Temecula, CA and William Robert Reid (Shannon) of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren, Robert Dustin Coltrane (Jordan), Austin Reid Coltrane, Lauren Elizabeth Coltrane, Matthew Hamilton Reid, Kaitlyn Marie Reid, Margaret Carol Reid, George Tyler Reid and Dylan Robert Reid. Tom spent the majority of his adult years in Virginia, predominately in Abingdon and Blacksburg where he was active in youth sports, the Lutheran Church and the Rotary Club. A loving father and husband, he will be remembered for his infectious laugh and his big heart.
