Ricky Neil Overby

Ricky Neil Overby, 63, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Cone Health Wesley Long Hospital surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Mayfield Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Happy Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 till 8:00 PM and other times at the home. Ricky was born February 17, 1956 to the late Percy William Overby and Lucille Evans Overby. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a hardworking man and truly loved his family as he provided for them. Ricky worked at Goodyear for 37 years as a mechanic and enjoyed working alongside his coworkers. He came to know his Lord recently and he has gone home. Along with his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by brothers: Roger Overby, Fred Overby, Lewis Overby, and sister, Ann Smith and a grandson, John Robert Overby, Jr. Ricky is survived by his wife, Lynn Overby of the home; son, John “Robby” Overby; daughter, Misty Blakely and husband, Preston of Ruffin; grandchildren: Cameron, Katelyn, Little Robby, Kendall, Noah, Gunnar and Madelyn; great grandchild, Scarlet; sisters: Vicky Overby, Gail Gibbs, and Karen Johnson; and his beloved dogs: Bear and Wags; a special nephew and best friend, Bobby Overby; and a large extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Mayfield Baptist Church, 8936 NC Highway 700, Ruffin, NC 27326 in his memory.
