Quentin Everett McKinney

Quentin Everett McKinney, 20, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018. He was the brightest light, greatest joy and only child of Dale McKinney and Kami McKinney. He was a graduate of Reidsville High School (2016), and a current student at Rockingham Community College. A visitation will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 5-8 P.M. on Friday, October 26th, 2018. The family will receive friend other times at Quentin’s home. A lifelong resident of Reidsville, Quentin enjoyed many interests. His favorites were target shooting, fishing, gaming with his friends, current events, politics, and reading. He was a lifelong UFC fan and watched every fight with his dad. His true passion was weight lifting and fitness. He spent hours researching health, nutrition, muscle development, and strength training. He was extremely knowledgeable and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his friends and schoolmates. His physical stature and strength were quite notable. (It’s even rumored that many classmates would skip classes just to watch Quent lift). He spent hours in his home gym working out and training others- even taking on his mother as his latest trainee. Although stubborn, headstrong and somewhat opinionated; Quentin (Big Q) was also a gentle giant with an unforgettably deep voice, dry wit, unconventional sense of humor, gentle and compassionate spirit. While Q may be gone, he will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him. Quent is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Everett and Georgia McKinney; maternal grandmother, Judy Wyatt and beloved dogs, Abby and Butch. Quentin leaves behind his mother and father (both of whom believed the sun rose and set on him); grandfather, Larry Harrison; uncles, Keith Harrison (Terri), Kent Harrison; cousins, Kelsey, Ryan, Kathryn and Khloe Harrison; beloved neighbors, Jill and Percy Simpson as well as his dog Hannah. Lastly, Quentin leaves behind his lifelong best friends and “brothers”, Chris, Darius, Keion, Sam and William all of whom he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, Quentin would have wanted donations made locally, to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter at 250 Cherokee Camp Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320.
