John Wayne Smithey

John Wayne Smithey, 76, of Sands Circle, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 7 PM Wednesday evening, December 12, 2018 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5-7 P.M. prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Thursday, December 13, at 11 AM. Wayne was born to the late John Willie and Mossie Huskey Smithey. He retired from Smithey Logging after 53 years of service. He was a friend to many with lifelong loyalty. A faithful Sunday school teacher of over 50 years; he was a good and Godly man, who loved his family. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Frances Smithey; brothers, Jerry and David Smithey and daughter in law Lisa Smithey. He is survived his children, Robin Lundy (Dean) and Tony Smithey; Fiancé, Jane Shoemaker; Sisters, Helen Sharpe and Kay Smithey; grandchildren, Johnny Isley (Brooke), Tabitha Smithey, Brenna and Hannah Lundy along with 3 great grandchildren and a large extended family.
