Grerald E. "Gene" Griebel

Gene Griebel , 66 of Reidsville, N.C. (formerly of Clarion) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. He had been a patient there since February suffering from “Guillian Barre”. He was born May 4, 1952 and was the son of the late Robert and Geraldine (Hepfl) Griebel of Miola. He was a catholic and member of Holy Infant Catholic Church in Reidsville. Gene was a truck driver and construction worker most of his life both in the Clarion area and N.C. He had a great love of hunting and was always looking for that “Trophy Buck”. He was married to the former Linda Long and she preceded him in death in 1996. He is survived by his two step grandchildren, Krista Mitchell and Keith Bullard and three grandchildren, Chad, Jakob and Kaleb. Also surviving are four siblings, Sandra Bell and her husband Raymond of Knox, Glenn Griebel of Clarion, Connie Ingham and her husband Mark of Virginia and Tracey Luden and her husband Steve of Miola. Also surviving are three aunts, Rita Reed, Betty Hepfl and Mary Nick along with numerous cousins. A special friend, Freida Wilson and her family of N.C. were so kind to him and will miss him greatly. Gene also leaves his dog Leila and cat Fred who will miss their Sunday afternoons watching football. There will be a private service for Gene held by his family at a later date. Gene will be laid to rest beside his wife Linda in the Cemetery of the Church of Latter Day Saints in Colfax, N.C. The family asks for memorial donations in Gene’s name be made to a charity of one’s choice.
