Gordon William “G.W.” Scearce, Jr.91, went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2018 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Warner officiating. G.W. was born in Rockingham County to Gordon W. Scearce, Sr. and Annie Lee Halbrook Scearce. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy and a retiree of The American Tobacco Company. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Grey Ellington Scearce. Survivors include his children, Terry Scearce and wife, Tanya, Dwight Scearce and Diane Scearce; grandchildren, Angela Walker and husband, Dean, Bryce Scearce and wife, Felicia, Jenny Thomas and husband, Ray, Rainey Brame, Brandon Poole, Kelly Hawkins and husband, Jr. and Ashley Page and husband, Justin; great grandchildren, Ryan Walker and Lindsey Mattingly, Carlea and Jared Thomas, Caycee and MacKenzie Poole, Curtis and Seth Hawkins, Hannah and Kaylee Page and Addie; sisters, Thelma Kuykendall and Inez Wall and nieces and nephews.
