Frances Allen Manley

Frances Allen Manley, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 1, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00A.M., on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Rev. Frank Carter officiating. The family will see friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home, 1279 Grooms Road. Frances was born July 14, 1923 in Reidsville to the late John Watt and Bessie Perkins Allen. She was a retiree of Chase Bag Co. with 30 years of service and a member of Hillview Presbyterian Church. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Elwood Manley; son, Charles (Charlie) Elwood Manley; granddaughter, Abby Renee Singleton; brothers, Everette Odell Allen, Edgar Lee Allen, John Willard Allen and sister, Ella Allen Gunn. Frances (A.K.A. “Granny”) was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. Her sacrifice and love for others was always evident in her actions. This was especially visible when it came to her family. She was the best cook and baker. She ALWAYS had a homemade cake in her kitchen ready to share with anyone. She was a talented seamstress and painter. She was the happiest at holidays when preparing for her family. She could darn the worst pair of jeans and socks and make them look and feel like new again. She was the “Matriot” of our family and will be missed greatly. We are so grateful for the many years of memories we had with her. Survivors are her son, Curtis L. Manley and wife, Mildred; daughters, Wanda Hopper and husband, Steve and Susan Dunlow and husband, Ray all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Melissa Hladliek and husband Greg, Jonathan Manley and wife, Pam, Corrine Snead, Brittany Snead, Jessica Symank, Katie Fisher, Lauren Hopper and Landon Hopper; great grandchildren, Autumn Hopper, Garret Hladliek, Sidney Hladliek and Zoe Symank; great great grandchildren, Aiden Hopper, Alex Hopper; brother, James “Tim” Allen and wife, Marjorie of Ruffin. The family would like to thank Hospice of Rockingham County for all their love and support. A special thanks to Ron Harris, RN, Chaplin Tripp, social workers Carol Poteat and Berta Page. We also extend our appreciation to caregiver, Sharon Boyd for her love and attention to mom. Special thanks to the ladies of Covington Wesleyan Church, Linda Southard and Dee Sawyers. Your faithful, weekly visits were always welcomed and looked forward to each week. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of our awesome mom to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family and condolences may be made to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com.
