Don Ivan BarryDon Ivan Barry, 82 , of Reidsville passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2018 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. There will be a private funeral service at Rock House Primitive Baptist Church in Pinnacle, NC at a later date. Don was born in New Brunswick, NJ to the late Jesse and Madeline Barry. He served his country in the US Army and was a retiree of IBM . He liked to travel from California, Hawaii, Florida and ultimately settled in Reidsville, NC with his late wife, Brenda Faye Barry. He is survived by his step children, Dianne Emerson, Stanley and James Capps; grandchildren, James Capps, Ashley Lilly (Joseph), Dean Capps (Abby), Gene Capps, John Gilham (Caylee), Jason Capps and Christopher Capps; 8 great grandchildren.
From San Francisco to Saigon in Vietnam, Don and I saw both sides of the world. He was a quiet gentleman who, in his own way, remained a bit mysterious; part of his charm. Rest In Peace, Don. You were one of a kind.

Uncle Di, Jenny had a dream of your Father the other night. Thought the message might have to do with Mom as her health has declined severely the past few months. But Jenny felt the need to try to find you! Yesterday she did but it was your obituary. I am heart broken because I never got the chance to make amends to you and that you and Mom never got the chance to heal the past! We all thought that you had crossed over long ago! I have to say the only thing that is bringing my heart any peace at this time is the fact that you made a good life for yourself with a loving wife, step children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. The Love is all we take with us and the beautiful postings show that you were surrounded by much love all these years! The last time you contacted me was when my twins were born. They recently turned 26 years old. Though I responded back I never heard from you again...but Thank You for reaching out to me it meant so much and it is the memory I will keep with me now! Please know that though we did not know where you were we never stopped loving you! Glad you are in the arms of your beloved wife. Love Always, Your niece Lizzy

Don, We are proud and feel blessed that to say that you were our friend. As we got to know you, you revealed that underneath your reserved nature was a very kind, generous and caring person. We hope you realized how much we respected that and valued your friendship. We wish we would've had the chance to know Brenda better or longer because it always warmed our hearts to see how you lit up when you'd mention her. We'll miss you but we know you and Brenda are resting easy together. You'll always hold a special place in our hearts. Ray and Elaine Brown
