Betty Jean Huston

Betty J. Huston, age 78, of Madison, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 with her husband, children and family by her side. Betty was born on October 29, 1940 in Fayetteville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Thornton and Bertha Thames Thornton. At an early age, she experienced Jesus Christ in her life, was born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit. At 14 years old, while working at a curbside restaurant near Fort Bragg, NC, God sent the man of her dreams into her life. Richard K. Huston and Betty were married on February 19, 1955, (64 years). They had 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. Through all life’s ups and downs, she held faithful to God, her husband and her family. Without a doubt, God sent his very best angels to carry her home. Betty is survived by her husband, Richard Keith Huston, three daughters, Sheila Smith of Madison, Kimberly (David) Mazzant of Sharpsville, PA and Jennifer (Randy) Caldwell of Tullahoma, TN; three sons, Mark Huston of Stoneville, Don (Dawn) Huston of Greensboro and Paul (Kristen) Haas of Wilmington. She also had 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is survived by two brothers: Lawrence Thornton of Fayetteville and Edward Thornton of Holden Beach. Betty was preceded in death by her son Richard Keith Huston, Jr. along with two brothers: Leon Thornton and Charles Thornton. The family will have a small graveside service at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery at 2301 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC on Friday July 19, 2019 at 12:00 PM.
