Annie Laura Overby Hyler, 90, of Gravel Hill Road, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital Palliative Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Lively Stones Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Kent officiating. The burial will follow in the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening at Lively Stones Baptist Church from 6:00 -8:00 PM and other times at Barry’s home (6501 NC Hwy 700, Ruffin). Mrs. Hyler was born in Rockingham County to the late Robert D. and Ivy P. Overby. She was retired from Dan River Mills with over 40 years of service and was a longtime member of Lively Stones Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Hyler loved to travel and especially enjoyed her time at the beach. She enjoyed her beloved cat, Bob, for 12 years before his death. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Jack” Hyler; and 6 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children; Kathy Stephens and husband, Phillip of Reidsville, Barry Hyler and wife, Kathy of Ruffin, Maynard Hyler and wife, Kathy of Kinston, Darrell Hyler and wife, Vickie of Providence and Michael Hyler and fiancé, Cathy Ballenger of Dry Fork, VA; her grandchildren, Dawn Rickman and husband, Todd, Stephanie Ham, Bobby Hyler, Jenny Roach and husband, Jerry, Tracy Hyler, Adina Tompkins and husband, Kevin, Keith Hyler, Lauren Hyler, Joshua Hyler and wife, Rachel, Zachary Hyler and wife, Kristi, Shannon Hudson and husband, Chris and Kayla Hyler; 27 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; her sister, Olive Mills of Danville; a large extended family and many friends. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the loving care provided to Mama during this difficult time by the Carilion Palliative Care staff.
