Obituary:

Reidsville – Raymond L. Denny, Sr., 72, of 124 Campbellton Road, died at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County on Monday March 8, 2010.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 7:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with the visitation to follow.  Burial will be on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Jerry Denny, Rev.James Crews and Ralph Clayton will officiate the funeral  and pallbearers will be Michael Lancaster, Tim Gibson, Lance Denny, Micah East, Nicholas East, honorary pallbearer will be Cpl. Buddie Adkins stationed in Korea.

Mr. Denny , a native of Rockingham County, was the son of the late  Robert  and Fleetwood Roach Denny.  He was retired from Mid-State Security and was of the Baptist faith.. Raymond enjoyed gardening,  and family  outings, especially he liked taking  the family on trips to Cherokee.  He was a loving husband, father , grandfather and great grandfather. In addition  to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virdie Lovelace Denny; brothers, Frankie and Jack Denny; sister, Shelby Trent and daughter, Donna Odom.

He survived by his children, Wiley Hundley of Arizona,Raymond Jr. and Tammy Denny  Sharon Denny also of Reidsville, Jerry and Karen Adkins of Sandy Ridge, Brian and Shannon  of Reidsville; grandchildren; Randy Lee Evans, Candi Gibson, Kim Lancaster, Michael Lancaster, Tim Gibson Trey Denny, Lance Denny, Micah East, Nicholas East, Erica East and CPL Buddie Adkins; great  grandchildren, Alivia  Hairston, Bryson Hairston, Dawson Lancaster, Sam Lancaster and Taylin Nickerson;   brothers, Tom and Helen Denny . Phillip and Jennelle Denny, Jerry and Karen Denny and Peggy  Denny; numerous nieces, nephews and many many  friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Home of Rockingham County for their compassion and caring spirit given to their loved one.

The family will receive friends at the home of  Raymond, Jr., at 441 Strawberry Road.
