Reidsville –Willie Preston Kelly, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Penn Nursing Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Creighton Beatty officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard. Mr. Kelly was a native of Rockingham County and the son of the late, Oscar Turner and Julia Edwards Kelly. He served in the US Army during WWII in the 2nd Armor Division and was decorated with several service medals including the Bronze Star and the Presidential Citation. He actually served under General Patton in North Africa and Sicily. He was a longtime and faithful member of Draper Christian Church. He was retired from the American Tobacco Company with 40 years of service. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Allen Kelly; his son, Patrick Kelly; brother, Oscar Kelly, Jr. and sister, Pearline Robertson. Mr. Kelly is survived by his sisters-in-law, Geneva Allen of Reidsville and Dorothy Allen and husband, Joe of Lynchburg, VA and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Draper Christian Church, 1116 Fieldcrest Road, Eden, NC 27288.
