Helen Bateman Hord

Helen Christine Bateman Hord, 91, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Penn Nursing Center. A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Warrick officiating. The family will see friends prior to the service from 12:30 til 1:00PM. Helen was born in Rockingham County to the late Authur Grey Bateman and Maydell Huff Bateman and was a retiree of P. Lorillard Tobacco Company. She was a faithful member of Baptist Temple Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Warren Hord; siblings, Donald Bateman, Thurman Bateman, Foye Bateman, Nellie Danaho, Peggy Bateman, Lois Talbott and Faye Carter. Survivors include her son, Steve Hord and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to especially thank her church family at Baptist Temple and the staff of Penn Nursing Center for the kindness and support shown to Helen during her illness.
