Harold Gene Smith

Reidsville: Harold Gene Smith, 76, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at 2:30 P.M., at Covington Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 P.M. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Covington Wesleyan Church and other times at the home, 3241 US Highway 158 East. Gene was born in Rockingham County on June 30, 1941, to the late, Robert Edward Smith and Rena Cobb Smith. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Ball Corp. Gene loved hunting, fishing, collecting antiques and attending his grandkids’ games. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Smith Scott. Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Smith; his son, Dwayne Smith and wife Kay; his grandchildren, Hope and Luke Smith; his brother, Buddy Smith and wife Louise; his sister, Peggy Ford and numerous nieces and nephews.
