David Rufus Hopkins, Jr.

David Rufus Hopkins, of 7160 Browns Summit Road, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. David was born in Guilford County to the late David Rufus Hopkins, Sr. and Gartha Pitchford Hopkins. He was a lifelong farmer, loving husband, father and grandfather. And was also a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Hopkins; children, Jefferson Todd Hopkins and wife, Mary Ann, Amelia “Millie” Hopkins Mayhew and husband, David and David R. Hopkins III; grandchildren, Jason Hopkins and wife, Amanda, Melinda Hopkins, Samantha Troxler and husband, Grant, Jessica Mayhew, David R. Hopkins IV and Devyn Hopkins; great grandson, Jacob Hopkins and sister, Marian Virginia Hopkins Reeser.
